Google paid Apple $1billion to keep its google search bar

It is happening sooner than I envisaged!! Oracle’s copyright infringement has dug up more interesting data and juicy gist.

You know the default Google search bar on an iPhone? It seems Google paid Apple a sum of $1billion in 2014 to maintain the Google search bar presence.

Also, any revenue made from Google ads shown on an iPhone will be shared between the two. Even though the split ratio is not stated, Bloomberg reports that the revenue share at one point was 34%, but we don’t know if that is Google or Apple’s  share.

Another report also suggests that Google might have done the same for other platforms. So anytime you see a default Google search bar on other platforms, just know that money must have been deployed to make that possible.

I forsee more drama unfolding.
