I will try to explain few points probably relative to which Telegram is better than Whats App.
1. Cloud Storage:
Telegram has Cloud Storage; So, all your texts, images, files get saved to the Cloud. This means you can log out and log in any number of times from any number of devices simultaneously without losing any data. Moreover, you get to know the devices in which it is currently being used. So, you don't need to worry about backup and restore. This also ensures that you can download any file, any number of times.
2. Quality of image:
Telegram allows user to choose whether to compress the image or video or send it uncompressed. There can be moments where compression is undesirable.
3. Group Capacity:
A normal group capacity in Telegram is 200. But when this is reached the Group transforms to a Super Group with capacity of 5000. (A Super Group has some more features than a Normal Group)
4. Username:
One can communicate with a Telegram User even if one doesn't have one's Contact Number i.e. through Username.
5. Channel:
A Channel is something where there is no limit on the Number of Members. The Creator can decide who can post to a Channel (administrators) and other Members can merely view the posts.
You can create a Channel with only you as the memeber. This can be used to do many interesting activities such as storing web links, etc.
6. Available across almost every OS:
One can use Telegram in Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows PC, Mac OS X, Linux, and even through any Browser.
7. Secret Chat:
These chats are end to end to encrypted and can't be hacked in any way. Moreover, one can set a self-destruct timer that will destroy the messages after the set time.
8. Gift and Stickers:
It supports gif and one can add, remove Sticker Packs as per their requirement.
9. Bots:
These are AI users that can perform certain activities such an image bot will fetch an image; Poll bot will allow to take a poll in a group, etc.
10. Telegram Support Force:
It is a group of volunteers around the world that help Telegram Users to solve their grievances. (The Support is accessible through app.)
11.Telegram allows you to download large files like movies,applications,documents etc from the channels.
There are many other points, may be minor but they collectively help Telegram gain more points over Whats App.
But after all it depends on your needs from a Messenger. Check the app, the features it offers, and then decide if it's better relative to you. Please don't just conclude that Whats App is better because someone said or because the vogue says so.
